The mission of the Family Resource Center is to strengthen families and the community by keeping children and dependent adults safe and nurtured, thereby preventing abuse and neglect. How We Fulfill Our Mission The Family Resource Center will strive to design and implement ongoing programs which motivate, educate, and assist program participants to attain goals of self-sufficiency and maximum independence while integrating community support. Our Commitment to Our Mission The employees of the Family Resource Center, including the administration and the Board of Directors shall regard this mission to keep children and dependent adults safe and nurtured as their foremost duty and concern. The bottom line... We believe it shouldn't hurt to be a child. Why are we here? We are now serving nearly 22% of the state of Iowa in the counties of: Adair, Audubon, Boone, Calhoun, Carroll, Cass, Clarke, Crawford, Dallas, Greene, Grundy, Guthrie, Hamilton, Humboldt, Madison, Pocahontas, Polk, Pottawattamie, Sac, Shelby, Webster & Wright
The Family Resource Center understands the plight of families to cope with poverty, disability, under-education, under-employment, family stresses, and crisis management. These struggles are known to lead to incidents of child abuse, and it is the agency’s purpose is to help parents overcome these obstacles and challenges while strengthening the families and keeping children safe in the process. The agency believes their efforts reduce the triggers for child abuse and enhance the quality of life and the strength of families through the agency’s support. Established programs provide education and skill development to parents and care providers as well as consumers and their families to facilitate the disabled and handicapped are living as independently as possible. Families struggling to become self-sufficient are guided and mentored one-on-one to develop necessary skills to manage budgets, provide safe family environments, and improve parenting and coping skills. Child care providers are given training opportunities and materials with resources to effectively provide for early childhood education and development. |
