Programs include the following:
SPECIAL CARE FOR SPECIAL PEOPLE PROJECT Member of the Iowa Respite and Crisis Care Coalition Serving children and adults with special needs in Central and Southwest Iowa. The SCSP Program provides waiver services through Iowa Medicaid's Home-Community-Based-Services including supported community living, CDAC, Individual and Group Respite, Brain-Injury Waiver, Home Habilitation, and IMMT services.
FAMILY SUPPORT PROJECTS PARENT TIME OUT-RESPITE CARE This program is available to parents living in the below counties. It provides up to 6 hours a month for the parents to get a break. We have a list of providers for each county who may be used for this time. You must call the Family Resource Center to sign up for this free service. There are no income guidelines. You may sign up any time for the fiscal year that runs from July 1, xx to June 30, xx. Call 1-800-999-5101 This program is available to parents or guardians experiencing a crisis and needing to be temporarily freed from the responsibilities of parenting to tend to other matters. Your children will be cared for by registered providers in a safe and nurturing environment. There are no income guidelines, and you may be eligible for up to 72 continuous hours of care per child per crisis. You may sign up any time for the fiscal year that runs from July 1, xx to June 30, xx. FAMILY ENRICHMENT PROGRAM FADSS (Family Development and Self-Sufficiency Program) CARE FOR KIDS and NURTURING HEALTHY SEXUALITY Care for Kids is a Sexual Abuse Prevention Program targeting children in the 4-7 year-old age group. This three-tier workshop introduces an innovative child sexual abuse prevention curriculum written especially for ages 3-7. Recognizing that adults need to take responsibility for protecting young children. the program provides specific ways to foster the open, non-threatening developmentally appropriate communication about the broad range of issues connected to healthy sexuality. In addition, it emphasizes through play the importance of raising nurturing and empathetic boys and girls, who then grow up to be caring and nurturing teens and adults with respect for others.
Participants spend significant time exploring the curriculum dealing with subjects such as: Private and public (body) parts, Babies, Bathtime and Bedtime, Feelings and Touching, Secrets and Surprises.
